NPI Buyer/Vendor Manager in Arlington, WA

Job Description Vendor manager will provide leadership in purchasing and vendor management for the engineering department. The vendor manager must manage schedules, vendor relationships, engineering purchases and reporting related to engineering projects and programs. Support Engineering planning and development through the identification, negotiation, purchasing and management of materials with partner relationships to assure timely arrival of necessary materials Obtain pricing and lead time quotes for materials and aggressively pursue price reduction efforts by using competitive information, total cost of acquisition and other techniques/tools Discover, screen and present alternate sources for manufacturing, subcontracting and materials Build and maintain partner relationships (distributors, manufacturer representatives, manufactures, suppliers and subcontractors) Research and evaluate partner relationships based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability and other relevant factors and monitor delivery schedules and performance Develop sources of supply where preferred partner relationships are inadequate Research and prepare monthly intelligence reports on various materials, processes, methods that better help shorten time to market and build designs that are easier to manufacture (e.g. determine and report on what is happening with tantalum mines that might affect the availability of tantalum capacitors) Work with management to develop product demand analysis and forecasts Liaising between departments to set expectations with relevant teams Review purchase requests, purchase orders, claims and contracts Support other engineering purchasing activity including any ordering of general equipment, tools, supplies, etc. Inventory value reporting to management Coordinate cycle counting Continued education related to field Desired Skills & Experience Requirements and Skills
